As a reporter for WUFT, the University of Florida’s PBS and NPR affiliate, I covered news and various feature stories such as an investigative piece on homelessness in Alachua County, an environmental multimedia project that placed in the Hearst Journalism Awards, and a series of vignettes showing how COVID-19 has affected the people of Gainesville. These projects enabled me to gain a comprehensive understanding of immersive reporting - how to appropriately gain access to sources, purposely interview, ethically report and empathize with the people’s experiences. Here my editing abilities as well as my understanding on how to structure stories strengthened.
